Check your IP Address

This will give your details about your IP address and location.

MCP Server

My Ip is also available as an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. AI assistants and agents that speak MCP can look up their caller's public IP address details directly instead of using the web page.

Endpoint

The server is hosted on this site at the address below, using the streamable HTTP transport (stateless) and no authentication, just like the public API:

https://%X-ORIGINAL-HTTP-HOST%/mcp

Tools

MCP clients discover the tool automatically through the standard tools/list call. Call get_my_ip to retrieve the caller's public IP address together with its ownership and location details.

get_my_ip

returns the caller's public IP address with ownership and location details: PTR/IP name, whois organisation, route description, AS number, country, and the requesting client's browser and User-Agent — the same data as the analyze page. It takes no parameters; every enrichment field falls back to "N/A" when the IP intelligence services return no data.

Response

The result carries the caller's IP details; all properties are returned in camelCase:

FieldTypeDescription
ipAddressstringThe caller's public IP address.
ipNamestringThe PTR/IP name of the caller's IP address, "N/A" when unavailable.
browserstringThe browser derived from the caller's User-Agent.
userAgentstringThe caller's User-Agent header.
whoisNamestringThe whois organisation owning the caller's IP address.
whoisDescriptionstringThe route description of the caller's IP address.
locationstringThe country of the caller's IP address.
asNumberstringThe autonomous system number of the caller's IP address.

Setup

Add the server to any MCP client configuration:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "myip": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://%X-ORIGINAL-HTTP-HOST%/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Claude Code CLI

claude mcp add --transport http myip https://%X-ORIGINAL-HTTP-HOST%/mcp

GitHub Copilot CLI

copilot mcp add myip --url https://%X-ORIGINAL-HTTP-HOST%/mcp

Cursor CLI

Cursor has no documented CLI add command — save the configuration above as .cursor/mcp.json in the project, or ~/.cursor/mcp.json globally.

VS Code

Run the MCP: Add Server command from the Command Palette, or save the configuration below as .vscode/mcp.json in the workspace.

{
  "servers": {
    "myip": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://%X-ORIGINAL-HTTP-HOST%/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Claude Desktop

Open the Settings, add a custom connector under Connectors and paste the endpoint URL below.

https://%X-ORIGINAL-HTTP-HOST%/mcp

Try It

You can inspect the server without writing any configuration: run the MCP Inspector from npm and connect to the endpoint URL above with the Streamable HTTP transport. The Inspector lists the tool with its full JSON schema and lets you call it interactively.

npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector --transport http https://%X-ORIGINAL-HTTP-HOST%/mcp

The MCP endpoint is rate limited to 20 requests per minute per client.

When the rate limit is exceeded, the endpoint responds with HTTP 429 and a Retry-After header.
